High School Scholarship Opportunity

GRAND COMMANDERY KNIGHTS TEMPLAR OF IOWA

              TEMPLAR SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION

The Grand Commandery of Knights Templar of Iowa is an organization that is part of the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons.  The Grand Commandery will award up to four (4), two thousand dollar ($2,000.00) scholarships to students entering/attending a post-secondary institution of higher learning during the 2016 – 2017 academic year and pursuing an academic course of study that will result in the student earning an Associate of Arts/Science Degree or a Bachelor of Arts/Science Degree.  The scholarship may be used for any bona fide school related expense such as tuition, fees, and books.  Applicants must be legal residents of the State of Iowa.  No Masonic affiliation by the applicant or his/her immediate family is required.  The scholarships will be awarded on an equal opportunity basis, that is, race, creed, religion, color, sex, sexual preference, or national origin will NOT have any bearing in the selection process.  We prefer one recommendation per school.

All information contained in your recommendation will remain confidential and will be destroyed upon completion of the scholarship awarding process.

The Education Committee will be utilizing the following criteria:
1.  Student must currently be maintaining at least a 3.00 GPA
2.  Student must have overcome some particular hardship or adversity

The following information shall be contained in your recommendation:
1.  Student’s high school
2.  Contact information for the student
3. Student’s grade point average and class rank
4. College or university student will be attending in 2016
5.  Your recommendation of why the student should receive this scholarship including the
hardship or adversity the student overcame and how dealing with that situation helped        develop the student’s character.

ALL RECOMMENDATIONS MUST BE RECEIVED ON OR BEFORE 5:00 P.M. APRIL 29, 2016
